1. Open the Back of a Skagen Watch

First, we will need to remove the back of your Skagen. This can be difficult without the proper tools handy. We recommend using a common watch back opener to help make this process less difficult. You can also use a flathead screwdriver or pocket knife, but tread carefully if you’re going this route. You do not want to cut yourself or scratch the case of the watch. Locate your watch’s hinge on the back case. It will look like a small indentation along the outer ring of the case. Place the edge of your tool underneath this backing hinge, and lift. With a little pressure, the case should pop off.

2. Find the Battery Size of a Skagen Watch

Now you’ll be able to view the inner components of the watch. With a magnifying glass, see what type of battery powers your Skagen. A Skagen watch battery size is usually a 364 or 377.

3. How to Replace the Watch Battery in a Skagen

Inside certain Skagen watch models, there is a clip over the battery that holds the cell in place. The clip may be screwed or pinned over the top. If there is a clip, carefully remove or loosen it.

Once the battery is accessible, insert your tool of choice into the opening. Slowly ease the old battery from the casing. Unpackage your new battery and replace.

Gently press the new battery into position, and reclip if necessary. Make sure not to nick any other mechanisms inside the watch, as this can cause more serious, auxiliary damage.

Before closing the back cover, make sure the watch is functional. If it is not, you may have installed the battery incorrectly, or there may be additional damage to the watch. If you cannot get the watch working properly, you can mail it to our service center for a complete inspection.

4. Secure the Cover Back on the Skagen Watch

If your watch is keeping time and functioning properly, great! The last step is to add the back cover onto the watch. The easiest way to perform this is with a watch press set. Most come with an assortment of sizes that allow you to fit the press to your specific watch case.

If you don’t have a press, you can attempt to secure the case back with your thumbs. You’ll need to apply a significant amount of pressure. If you can successfully press it back into place, you should feel a light click. Make sure the seal is tight to retain water resistance.
